How To Freeze Garlic Chives

You can freeze garlic cloves, peeled or unpeeled, and they last up to a year in the freezer. I find it easiest to wrap them in a clean dishtowel, and gently pat them dry.

How to freeze garlic chives. As much as i hate messing with the fresh cloves i’d rather just add some to my garden and my neighbor is already doing about a bushel a year so i know it grows well in the high desert. You can also use an airtight freezer bag to freeze them intact. You need to make sure the chives are full submerged in the liquid.

Remove any withered, blackened or dried out sections and chop to desired length. Try to smooth them into 1 horizontal layer for easy handling. Freezing garlic ensures that they are fresh and ready when you need them.
