How To Measure A Tv For A Wall Mount

Though a 32 inch tv wall mount may very well be able to bear a larger television, it all comes down to how much space you have. Check your tv manual for the vesa mount measurements and get a tv mount to match.

What is a tilted wall mount?

Use your findings to mark the correct height on the wall where you’ll be hanging your tv. The mount can extend 16” away from the wall or retract back to just 2.6” out from the wall. Line your tv mount up with the mark you’ve made and, using the level, make marks for the holes you’ll be drilling.

The one potential downside to this is that it requires your tv to be a bit farther from the wall in order to provide space for tilting. Depending on your tv’s size, you will need at least one other person to help you lift the tv when you place it on the mount. Use a level to make sure your newly mounted tv is, well, level.

Place the mount on the wall, aligning it with the mark showing where the tv center will be. Run your tape measure horizontally from side to side to find the width. Spanner depending on the mount you have, you may need to secure some of the bolts with a spanner.

Position the screws on the holes after and use a level to make sure that the mount will still be straight. Check the weight rating of any wall mount you consider buying, to make sure the mount will fit your tv. Then use the mounting template to measure the exact height you want to mount the tv on the wall.

Next, pull out the measuring tape so that it reaches the seat that’s closest to the wall. Next, attach the wall mount by screwing in the top two lag bolts first, then screw in the bottom bolts and check that the wall mount is level. After all, a 50” wall mount that can support 50 pounds might be better suited to your needs than a 60” wall mount that can only support 40 pounds.
